Human rights activist, Barrister Justice C. Uhuegbu has accused the Buhari led administration of playing poltics with the COVID 19 scenario.
He argued that if the federal government is not playing politics with coronavirus, relief funds will have been disbursed and ports closed. Uhuegbu said that several sea ports are still opened and the Nigerian Port Authority are still up and doing. According to Uhuegbu, the president lacks focus and direction and is definitely not tackling the COCID 19 case properly.
In his words,
“If FG is not playing politics with the pandemic, why is the Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA, exempted from the lockdown order as given by the President?”
“I can tell you, there are several other government establishments which are secretly working and no one is raising an eyebrow.
“Up till this moment, no reasonable palliatives or relief materials have been given to the people for asking them to stay at home. I bet you, hunger is killing more than the COVID-19.”
“Everything in Nigeria must not be politics. Look at the huge sums that good-spirited individuals and companies have donated so far, what has the federal government done with the money?”.
“How will you ask someone to stay at home without food? Our leaders should be sensitive in their thinking.”
“What do you call a situation where the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, is claiming to have spent billions of naira in sending mere SMS to Nigerians? This is corruption at its peak.”
